Quick reference for spending luck when it matters.

Luck Tokens

You start each session with 3 Luck Tokens (Halflings get 4).

Using Luck

  • Spend 1 Luck Token to reroll any d20 you just rolled (take the new result).
  • Spend 1 Luck Token to force the DM to reroll an attack against you.
  • Spend 1 Luck Token to turn a failure into a success (GM may veto if implausible).
  • Spend 2 Luck Tokens to avoid death when you would die.
  • Spend 2 Luck Tokens to stabilize automatically when dying.
  • Spend 3 Luck Tokens to declare a lucky coincidence (you have the right tool, you know someone here, etc.).
  • Spend 3 Luck Tokens to pull off something heroic and improbable once per session.

Use them! They’re meant to be spent.

Regaining Luck

Luck Tokens reset at the start of each session. Some GMs award extra tokens for:

  • Excellent roleplaying
  • Creative problem-solving
  • Making the table laugh
  • Advancing the story in unexpected ways

Note: This is optional in some campaigns — discuss with your GM.
